TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL HYPNOSIS

Article by Tony Robinson

If you find your life in disarray, you are living what society calls a “dysfunctional” life. This term simply means that things are not working as they should, which is something determined by you and your conscious mind. However, dysfunctions are not always viewed by the subconscious mind. For instance, if you were doing things you do not want to do such as smoking, overeating, being abusive, and so on, you would probably agree those are dysfunctional things.

With self-hypnosis, you can remove the dysfunction from your life, so you can stop smoking, overeating, being abusive, etc. Self-hypnosis can help you become more patient while improving yourself and your actions. The key is to believe that self-hypnosis can benefit your life but first, you have to identify the dysfunction in your life so it can be addressed. Although sometimes hard for people to do, self-hypnosis can work if you get to the real source of the problem.

With this, you would learn how to find both symptoms and the problem. For instance, if you are a smoker, the problem is not the cigarettes but your desire to smoke them. Remember, you cannot confuse action with cause. In other words, the desire to smoke results in buying cigarettes, carrying them around, putting them in your mouth, lighting one, and inhaling. If you deal with one or all of these symptoms, regardless of how successful the self-hypnosis suggestions are, you will not get past the dysfunction. This means the craving to smoke will remain because the underlying source of the problem of why you are craving the cigarette is not yet addressed.

Now, let us say that you have a problem with overeating. Your desire to eat and overeat is the source of the weight problem but the goal with self-hypnosis, you identify the reason you have the desire and then change it. Once you do that, the overeating problem will stop. It could be that the underlying problem has to do with stress of a job, recent divorce, sibling rivalry, being picked on at school, or any number of reasons. However, the dysfunction of the situation is what must be determined before self-hypnosis can work.

No matter the goal, the same ideology applies. Anything you want to overcome, biting your nails, swearing, being shy, etc, they all require overt behavior on your end. Keep in mind that passive dysfunction involves the absence of something, meaning you have some type of mental block. If you are struggling with passive dysfunction, then subconscious constructs are in the way of learning. Your goal with self-hypnosis is again, to uncover the existence of each dysfunction. Once you know what these dysfunctions are, you can then formulate suggestions that will work to eliminate them.

One way to determine the existence of any type of dysfunction is through ideomotor questioning. With this, you will be able to formulate effective suggestions so the subconscious mind signs off the suggestions. The process involves who, where, when, what, and why. As far as who, you would ask questions to find out if there are other people associated with the problem. For the where, is would be associated with location that could be the source of the problem. In other words, were you in a location that triggers your nervousness, nail biting, smoking, overeating, and so on?

For the when, you want to identify the time of your life when the problem first started. If possible, determine the exact age or date, which will provide you with tremendous insight. Then you have the what. For this, you need to find out what specifically sets off the dysfunctional behavior. For instance, were you taunted by someone as a small child, did your parents yell at you, were you embarrassed at some point. All of these questions will help you find the crux of the problem. Finally, there is the why, which may help you understand why the behavior in the first place.

Once you have gone through this exercise looking for the keys to the dysfunctional behavior, you can use self-hypnosis to get past it. Again, with hypnotic suggestions being made the right way, you can begin to take control of the dysfunctional areas of your life, finding that you feel better and stronger about yourself. Hypnosis in any form is not an overnight fix but with practice and patience, you can overcome many dysfunctional aspects of your life for a brand new beginning.

5 Tips for a Successful Hypnosis Session

Article by Chris Robertson

Whether undergoing self-hypnosis or visiting a professional hypnotherapist, it’s crucial that you prepare ahead of time. Preparation is the key to a successful hypnotherapy session whether you wish to stop smoking, get victory over a phobia, lose weight, improve performance in key areas of your life, reduce stress, or overcome any other obstacles. If you’re serious about getting help through hypnosis, here are five tips to have a successful session.

1. Plan for Commitment

Many folks think that one session will do the trick, when in reality it takes four or more sessions to get the help needed. Make plans to commit yourself to the number of sessions that are recommended by your hypnotherapist. If the hypnotist is licensed and much sought-after in the field, you should be able to trust his/her judgment.

2. Write Out Your Goals

It’s important to know exactly what you’d like to accomplish during your hypnotherapy sessions. Do you need help with multiple areas of your life or only one? Try to limit your goals to three or less so you can remain focused. Then write down your goals and why you wish to accomplish them on paper and give a copy to your hypnotist for reference.

3. Schedule Sessions at the Right Times

Take a day off from work for your hypnosis session if possible. Relax yourself before going with a hot bath, healthy foods and a refreshing beverage. But avoid drinking too much or overeating so you won’t have to use the restroom during your session! Try to pick a day when life is not as stressful as usual. Perhaps you can let the kids stay over night during the evening before with a friend or relative to eliminate the typical hustle and bustle of the morning rush.

4. Ask Plenty of Questions

Most hypnotists will explain everything carefully before your session starts. There may be, however, certain questions you’d like to ask. If so, write them down and ask before your session. The more you know, then the more smoothly your session will go. Also, eliminate from your mind “hocus pocus” thoughts of hypnosis. What you see on television and movies is not the real thing!

5. Improve Comfort Level

Wear comfortable clothing that fits loosely so you can remain cool and calm. Also, style your hair in such a way that’s relaxing to you. Hair in the eyes or too close around the face might distract you and/or the hypnotherapist. Plan ahead to be relaxed and do everything possible to calm your spirit before you arrive.

Although hypnosis is not guaranteed to work every time, taking these measures can greatly improve your chances for success. If you’re not sure where or how to start, check out online resources to find a licensed hypnotist near you. If you live in the northeastern portion of England, for instance, type in city-specific keywords such as hypnosis in Sunderland, South Shields, North Shields, Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, or Durham.

Keep in mind that only a licensed professional hypnotherapist can conduct hypnosis sessions the correct way. So if you need to quit smoking, lose weight or improve overall quality of life, use these tips to get started.

SUCCESSFUL HYPNOSIS

Article by Tony Robinson

Although everyone can be hypnotized, you want to do everything possible to make your experience as successful as possible. Therefore, we wanted to provide you with some valuable tips for making this happen. First, you want to make sure you are being hypnotized in a quiet location. The area should be void of people, animals, telephones, and doorbells, literally everything that could disrupt the session. The more relaxed and quiet the environment the better.

Next, the hypnotherapist or hypnotist should conduct the hypnosis in a positive manner. The goal here is that questions should be in the form of affirmation and be designed for the least amount of resistance. As an example, if you are trying to lose weight, then the questions should not be about food such as, “I don’t like donuts” or “I need to stay away from spaghetti”. Instead, the questions should be more in the form of, “Why am I so lucky to be losing weight” or “How many new outfits will I be able to buy when the weight comes off?”

Successful hypnosis also means reciting the things that you hope to accomplish. Remember, the hypnotherapist or hypnotist will be working with your subconscious mind so the positive side of what you want must be suggested repeatedly. Again, if your goal is to lose weight, then you want to recite that you want to lose weight with things such as “I am will continue to walk every day”, “I will be careful about the foods I put in my mouth”, or “I will feel so good when the weight is gone.”

While in the state of hypnosis you want to be sure you breath deeply and slowly. Then, envision yourself walking on the beach toward the water. The cool water’s edge is just 20 steps away so you begin to county silently backwards, mentally watching yourself getting closer and closer to the water. As you begin to near the water, you are allowing your mind to relax so that the suggestions made by the hypnotherapist or hypnotist will be received. The more your mind accepts suggestions the more change can occur.

Occasionally, a person being hypnotized will find it difficult to reach deep relaxation, which is crucial to success. To help, you might have soft, soothing music playing in the background, something like Yanni or Enya. With headphones, you can allow the mind to wander, going deeper and deeper into a relaxed state. Just remember that while listening to music, you also need to hear what the professional is saying so the music will need to be soft. While this might require a little bit of patience and practice, it is actually very beneficial.

In addition to setting the environment for sound, you also want to make sure the environment is comfortable and tidy. Again, you want to avoid any type of distraction. You almost want the room to be like your private sanctuary where you can feel a sense of calm and tranquility. If you like, you can light some scented candles or burn incense. In addition, overstuffed pillows, soft throw blankets, and loose comfortable clothing will help you relax, one of the key goals in hypnosis being successful.

If you plan to use self-hypnosis, you would need to do the same thing. Bring yourself to a quiet place so you can become relaxed. Then, you want to instill positive suggestions in the mind through induction. Just make sure you do not feed the mind with negative things but positive statements. Again, focus on things like exercise, feeling good, being healthy, and wearing new clothes in the area of weight loss. Even after being hypnotized, you can continue telling your conscious mind these things so they become a part of your daily life.

Without doubt, ridding your mind with daily worries is hard but crucial to success. After all, most people work, have kids, and therefore, live and deal with daily crisis, some small and some large. Keep in mind that in addition to pushing these thoughts out of the mind so that hypnosis can help you accomplish your goal, hypnosis can also help you cope with these daily issues. Through the relaxation methods, you will begin to notice that you lose weight, stop smoking, gain confidence, or whatever the case may be but you also begin to find yourself relaxing, which allows you to handle life’s crises.

This state of consciousness allows you to enter and leave naturally. You are not put into a trance whereby you do or say things you would not normally do. Hypnosis is real and it works. However, for hypnosis to work successfully, you must work with a qualified professional or understand how to perform self-hypnosis.

5 Important Keys to a Successful Meditation Practice

People who seek out a meditation practice do it to experience the benefits meditation has to offer. And one of the greatest benefits is stress reduction, which means that meditation itself should not be stressful.

Five Keys to Assist in Your Meditation Practice for a Successful Session

1. Your mantra is just a vehicle for transport: Don’t analyze your mantra or wonder if it’s working, remember it is only a vehicle to get you to that quiet place. Your mantra is just a faint idea that will disappear when it serves its purpose.

2. Accept that your thoughts are part of the process: The nature of your mind is to think, so that means that thoughts are part of the process of meditation. You will have many, many thoughts, don’t analyze them, just observe them and let them go.

3. Let go of any expectation you may have: If you are expecting to change overnight because you’ve been meditating for a week it’s not going to happen.

Meditation is like farming. It takes time to plant, gather, and distribute. Just let what happens be okay.

4. Make meditation a daily practice: Place meditation on your daily list as a priority. Don’t meditate just when you feel like it or when time allows. Meditation is a discipline that takes practice. When the benefits start showing up, they will reinforce your practice.

5. Practice effortlessly: Meditation should never be forced. If you force yourself, you will struggle. Go easy on yourself and be gentle. Meditation is really a time for non-doing. If you stress over your meditation practice, you defeat the purpose of meditation.

By now you may be thinking these five keys are easier said than done, but realistically, your success in your meditation practice will be determined by your commitment to yourself and no one else.

Meditation

“Meditation is the tongue of the soul and the language of the spirit.”

-Jeremy Taylor

Do you meditate? Have you ever tried to meditate? Would you even begin to know how to and if so, have you been successful? Ah, the ancient practice of focusing your awareness. The road to enlightenment! The Buddhist say, “The gift of learning to meditate is the greatest gift you can give yourself in this life.”

So then, why is it that meditation eludes so many of us? Why isn’t it something we start to practice at a young age so we can all experience inner peace, tap into our true spiritual nature and open the doors to the mysteries of our mind?

Perhaps one of the reasons is it isn’t easy. They say we think some 60,000 thoughts a day and most of them go unnoticed by us. Well, try meditating for only one or two minutes and you will witness the first 100 or 200 thoughts of your day.

It seems like, instead of quieting your mind, suddenly all you can think about is EVERYTHING.

Try and sit for 1 minute and clear your mind. Try and release your thoughts so you can go within, follow your breathing and simply be. WOW! Climbing Mt. Everest seems like a breeze compared to trying to quiet your mind. Go ahead, try it and you’ll see exactly what I am talking about.

Meditating is basically learning to have a relationship with your true self, your spiritual self and God/Your Higher Power/Allah. Prayer is a form of meditation but learning to quiet your mind and going within is where you meet your spirit, where you begin to know who you are. Some call it nirvana or enlightenment and this experience transcends all religions.

Look I know we are never going to become Buddhist monks but taking a couple of minutes out of your day to tap into a least a glimpse of peace is worth your time.

Not to mention that it begins your day with a more calm approach to what may lie ahead and the fact is that we should all start each day in some form of prayer, mediation and thankfulness.

Many people are in such a hurry. They hustle and bustle around each day that they never take the time to go within even for just 1 tiny minute. Some people just can’t stop. They don’t know how to relax and they couldn’t tell you what taking time for themselves is. This is the exact time that they should stop and take a breather.

So why not give it a try and at least attempt to meditate; it will take you one step closer to reaching that spiritual place inside you. It’s a wonderful place that already exists within you which you have never had a relationship with or experienced yet. Plus, it reduces stress, it keeps you centered and it nourishes your soul.

What do you have to lose and what do you have to gain?
