How to Make Money Eliminating Poverty Consciousness

If you have landed on this article, you are obviously searching for answer on how to make money, or at least how to make extra money. There are tons of information out there that are supposed to teach you on this topic. Some of them are helpful, while others are utterly useless, or even scams. If you are like me, you are overwhelmed and frazzled by this endless web of information. On the internet every time you click on a link, you are led to 10 other links and ads. By the time you’ve spent two hours in front of the computer, your brain is fried, and hardly any progress is made. This is why I wanted to write an article different from the typical “10 ways of how to make easy money”, or “how to make money online by posting links” articles.

Though some people are reluctant to admit it, most of us think often about how to make money. You may have had a decent education and good job, but there is still an inner voice asking if you have reached your full wealth potential, or if it’s good enough to settle for a 9 to 6 job day in and day out for the rest of your life.

So you started looking around on the internet, tried a few options, and almost got involved with a internet scam where a guy tells about making ,000 in 3 weeks by following a special money generating formula. All this, you find at the end, doesn’t add up and you are back to square one. Soon you realize that making money doesn’t come easy to you. The truth is that the failure rate for starting any business, whether online or offline is very high. A book on this topic would tell you that the #1 reason for not succeeding is lack of planning and preparation. While this is true in the business sense, there is another very important aspect I want to focus on, which is something called the poverty consciousness”.

What is Poverty Consciousness?

You might have heard of the term “law of attraction”, which according to the Wikipedia, is when people’s thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) dictate the reality of their lives, whether or not they’re aware of it. Basically if you really want something and truly believe it’s possible, you’ll get it. But the flip side is true: if you put a lot of attention and thought onto something you don’t want, you are basically praying or wishing for it to happen too.

And here is where poverty conscious comes in. Poverty consciousness is the fear of material lack, or the beliefs, feelings, and values associated with material lack. It may come from different sources, whether from childhood and current experiences, or even religious briefs and upbringings. For example, someone grew up in poverty and experienced abandonment may not be able to shake off the experience of lack and want even after becoming an adult. There is still the fear not having enough food to eat, not having enough material possessions, and not getting enough love and attention. How about one’s religious upbringing? I was brought in a strict religious environment where the desire to gather material wealth is equated with greed and idolatry. It took me years after leaving this religious environment to finally admit that I too, have desire to gain material wealth.

And is it only people who have had material lack in the past carry poverty consciousness? Not so. A top executive of a company who is about to retire but fear losing half of her retirement fund because of stock market volatility, embodies the same poverty consciousness as a man who struggles to pay this month’s utility bill. The commonality they share is the fear of not having enough. And this fear is a genuine reaction to their current situation. But this fear can sometimes cripple them rather than encourage and motivate them.

So here is the basic principle:

Unless you eliminate poverty consciousness, it will only be an uphill fight to master the craft of knowing how to make money!

But if you currently possess the belief of not having enough, how do you get rid of it? I have put together a few things that you can practice to achieve a mental shift away from it:

Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have. Sounds simple enough, but we too often have the “glass half-empty syndrome. If you focus on scarcity, scarcity will follow you. Count your blessings, and you feel rich already. Pay attention to what you say, since words are very powerful. Only say what you want to manifest, not “I am poor”, or I can’t make any money. Pray for the prosperity of others. This may be hard, but by wishing loving and kind thoughts on others, the universe will reward you immensely.Every time you have any thoughts of lack or want, which may be for money, relationship, or achievement, note those thoughts in a note book. You can use symbols, like dollar sign for money, or heart shape for relationship. At the end of the day you can make chicken scratches over those symbols and words to symbolize you want nothing to do with those negative thoughts. You will be amazed that after a while, the list will get shorter. Take your yearly income, multiply by 2, and divided by 1000. For example, if the annual income if ,000, multiply by 2 and divided it by 1000 give you . Every time you make a positive thought on yourself, imagine you are getting as a reward. Can You Train Yourself to Need Less Sleep? The Case For “Yes”

The same 24 hours feel more like 18. People want more hours in the day. The only thing they feel they can give up is sleep. The question is, “Can you really train yourself to safely need less sleep?”

Many experts claim it’s dangerous to train yourself to sleep less than 7 – 8 hours per night. They cite the body’s need for restorative rest. The brain especially appears to need 7 -8 hours of slow brain wave activity to “reset” itself after a day of wakefulness.

There are others who claim you can train yourself to need less sleep, if you do it gradually. If you usually sleep 8 hours a night, decrease your sleep to 7.5 hours. Be consistent with the number of hours. Stay there for about two weeks, and then decrease another half hour. Many claim they can get down to 6 hours of nightly rest without ill effects.

It’s important to note, the anecdotal evidence says this regimen works only if you are already resting deeply. People who are insomniacs and toss and turn at night won’t benefit from this program.

In addition, you need to keep your hours consistent. Go to bed and get up the same time every day and night no matter what day of the week it is. Lessening your hours gradually allows the body, including the brain, to adjust to the new hours of repose. Doing this only on weeknights is counter-productive.

Those who meditate consistently report needing fewer hours of slumber. The time spent in deep meditation can slow the brain waves to a deep restful theta state. The body and brain receive the restorative down time needed lessening the amount of time a person needs to spend in bed.

Hypnotherapy can have similar results as meditation. When you enter a trance state, your brain waves slow down. The brain and body enter a place of deep relaxation.

Those who eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and are excited about life and their role in it, also report being able to function in an alert and healthy manner for more hours during the day.

In summary, the body’s need for sleep appears to depend upon several factors. One is the mental attitude and verve for life of the individual. Taking care of the body through a healthy diet and appropriate exercise also lessens the need for restorative rest. Lastly, activities such as meditation and hypnosis which slow the brain waves provide the necessary respite from the stresses of the day allowing for more hours of wakefulness.

I have used similar techniques, although I wouldn’t have thought of it as self-hypnosis at the time, to retrain my brain to focus on opportunities. These techniques included writing out a list of what I wanted to accomplish, detail each item on the list (to the point of knowing exactly what it is I wanted to accomplish), detail how it would be accomplished and write it down as a statement document. Then, simply read that document to yourself every morning, through out the day, and just before bed.

After a while, I simply knew everything in the document frontwards and backwards. Once that happened, I began to realize the accomplishments, I found the way to becoming successful just as I had detailed it in my list. That system still works for me, it may work for you.
